My toenail is growing with a small hole in it. I see it by the cuticle, what does it mean?

It happened last year and grew out normal after the small hole grew off. But not its come back. Why do I have a small hole growing in the same spot? It starts at the cuticle.My toenail is growing with a small hole in it. I see it by the cuticle, what does it mean?
