The cuticle of a leaf is non-polar; would that be why putting a leaf in a soapy solution helps infiltrate it?

Hydrophobic attracts to the hydrophobic and wallah? Would solutions enter the leaf more easily then? Or is it just because of the slipperiness of the soap that liquid enters easily through the stomata? The cuticle of a leaf is non-polar; would that be why putting a leaf in a soapy solution helps infiltrate it?
Soap tends to be amphipathic. That is they have both hydrophobic (polar) and hydrophillic (non-polar) ends. This would help interact with the cuticle and allow water to pass.
