Why do nail techs remove the cuticle during a manicure?

I'd like them left alone and don't understand why it's done. I would ask them but nobody at the nail salon speaks a word of English. Why do nail techs remove the cuticle during a manicure?
tell em..';no cutty';!

and they'll get it

ps. theyre never supposed to cut cuticles, thats a health issueWhy do nail techs remove the cuticle during a manicure?
it looks better i guess but its not sanitary. the cuticle is supposed to be a barrier between your nail and your finger and if cut germs can get inside much easier. i used to go to Asian salons and I just used to say loudly '; NO CUT!'; and point to my cuticle.

I started going to an Italian salon and its sooo much better lol
im pretty sure they remove it so it gets rid of the dead skin there, and it makes your nails look longer sometimes. but really not sure?!?!?! thats a good ? i want to know the real answer to.. i think ill ask!!! :)
