How can i get rid of red inflammation surrounding the cuticle at the base of a fingernail?

Stop biting your nails or chewing on cuticles. Go to the store and get an orange wood stick not metal and push your cuticles up gently. If cuticles are hard get a cuticle softener. Never cut them.

I keep mine up by putting clear base nail polish on them. I t works. I still bite my nails occassionally and when I am nervous I chew everything on them. The cuticles get caught on things and tear and then get infected so keep it clean. It will go away. How can i get rid of red inflammation surrounding the cuticle at the base of a fingernail?
One of two ways, first, you may have to see a doctor because if it gets worse, you may have a staph infection, or otherwise known as a skin infection on your cuticle. The only way to treat it is with antibiotics.

If it is just irritated and dry, you can use aquaphor healing ointment that improves skin and helps heal overnight.

Take some kind of pain reliever to help if you are in pain. How can i get rid of red inflammation surrounding the cuticle at the base of a fingernail?
sounds like cellulitis which can resolve on it's own. if the finger is painful and swollen, you may need antibiotics. visit an urgent care.
