Where can a cuticle be found on a plant?

cuticle: (adj. cuticular)

noncellular outer layer of an insect or a nematode; water-repellent, waxy layer of epidermal cells of plant parts, such as leaves, stems and fruit

(Upper: cuticle of root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne hapla) (Used by permission of Society of Nematologists); (lower: section view of a leaf)

if that helps at all...Where can a cuticle be found on a plant?
Plants produce a waxy, waterproof, outer layer to protect themselves from drying out. The wax lays across their epidermal cells. This cuticle is formed only by the plant's epidermal cells to shield its leaves and stems from dessication but it does not block the entry of light for photosynthesis.

  • Why don't green algae have a cuticle ?

i really need this answer because i have a science question due tomorrow about it , and i left my science book at home :(Why don't green algae have a cuticle ?
Leaves have cuticles to prevent water loss. Because green algae lives in a water environment, it doesn't need to protect against water loss, as it's in constant contact with the water.

What is the best cuticle cream from cvs?

I love Sally Hansen cuticle cream, it works really well! I'm not sure if CVS has it or not though.

The skin behind my nail where my cuticle is hurts and is a little red...why? Can I stop it?

Sounds like you've probably split the cuticle or it's gotten chapped. This is ususal during colder weather and it's very easy to fix by using a thick hand lotion several times a day or by purchasing cuticle oil and putting that on daily. It'll sooth the redness and irritation sos that it can heal up.

If you've recently had a manicure done at a shop, clean any nicks and cuts with peroxide (burns like heck) and put an antibiotic cream on the cut to reduce the risk of any infections. Unfortunately, the risk of disease from some nail salons have made the news and one must be very careful when having manicures done with less than sanitary equipment.

You should find that the cuticle and skin starts to feel better in a day or two.

    OK.

confused.Vitamin E Nail and Cuticle oil?
Enamel is the surface of your nail.

    I'd keep it on 5 - 7 minutes.

Make sure you massage it in.

Wash it off and then reapply, go to sleep. o-o
